What is Massage Therapy?

A Massage Therapists has a mission of identifying the root cause of the problem, treat the entire person and body as a whole and support each person’s ability to achieve optimum health and freedom. A Registered Massage Therapist will work with you using education and individualized treatment plans which will enable you to take the steps required to take control of all aspects of your health.

Benefits of Massage Therapy

Massage therapy has a therapeutic effect on the body and improves health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory system. A therapeutic massage includes deep tissue and relaxation techniques, which help to loosen and stretch the muscles and fascia. A one hour massage to help melt away today’s aches and pains, accompanied by soothing music, is a perfect answer to today’s high levels of stress. Massages help to calm the nervous system, increases blood flow and oxygen to the tissues and also the brain. It increases your awareness of what is going on inside your body, and educate your body on how it should be feeling.

What will happen on your initial visit?

You will complete a health history form. This form helps the therapist understand your health background. Depending on your history and present condition, the Registered Massage Therapist may conduct range of motion, strength and neurological tests. All of these tests are done to determine a treatment plan specific to your needs.

During your massage, you will be fully draped, except for the area being treated. It is your choice whether or not you will be clothed for your massage. Massage Therapy does work best directly on the skin, but modifications can be made to suit your comfort needs.
